66 -- RADIOSONDES/SIGNAL PROCESSING SYSTEM QUALIFIED PRODUCTS LIST POC Edward F. Tennant, Jr., Contracting Officer, 301/713-0823 The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration intends to establish a qualified products list applicable to radiosonde/signal processing systems operating in the frequency band between 1668.4 MHz and 1700 MHz and using the Global Positioning System (GPS) for position and wind determination. Firms desiring to qualify their products as part of the Radiosonde Replacement System (RRS) should express their interest by responding in writing to the attention of Edward F. Tennant, Jr. at the U.S. Department of Commerce, NOAA, General Contracts Branch, 1305 East-West Highway, Station 7604, Silver Spring, Maryland 20910 within 15 days after publication of this notice. Firms which respond to this notice will be provided with a copy of all qualification requirements and details of the qualification process. In general, the qualification process will consist of two phases. The first phase will consist of testing by the applicant at its own facilities or laboratories. Applicants' products approved in the first phase will be tested by the Government in the second phase which is scheduled to begin in approximately January 2000. It is anticipated that the first contracts subject to the qualification requirements will be awarded in approximately October 2000. The Government intends to (i) publish a notice in the Commerce Business Daily on a yearly basis to identify firms which are interested in submitting products for qualification and (ii) conduct qualification testing every other year.
