N -- NATO: REPLACEMENT OF SHAPE PABX AND REWIRING OF BUILDING 101 SOL CO-8453-PBX DUE 031499 POC Alexis Kemper (202-482-1512) The NATO Consultation, Command and Control Agency is inviting bids for the provision of the Replacement of the SHAPE PABX and Rewiring of Building 101. The SHAPE PABX located at Mons, Belgium is now 11 years old and is scheduled for replacement. The scope of the prospective contract is as follows: a. Replacement of the PABX network consisting of 4 switches with a total of 5,200 lines and new terminal equipment. b. Replacement of the telephone cabling system in building 101 and 102 to provide a total of 6,600 telephone outlets. c. The provision of new external fobre optic cabling between buildings 101 and 117 and between buildings 101 and 185. d. The provision of contractor logistic support. It should be noted that the installation and cut-over of the new PABX and cabling system shall be achieved while maintaining the operational capability of the site. Project implementation shall be carried out with the aim of reducing to a minimum any disturbance within building 101. All of the new telephone sets will be connected prior to cut-over from the old PABX network to the new network. A one day bidder's conference will be held on site approximately 3 weeks after release of the IFB. The prime purpose of the conference will be to permit prospective bidders to assess the recabling work required in buildings 101 and 102. However, the conference will also include a question and answer session covering any aspect of the prospective contract. All applicants must be certified to compete in NATO ICB by the U.S. Department of Commerce, Office of Telecommunications.
