R-The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)Office of the Inspector General (OIG) invites interested parties to provide information concerning existing and prototype information management systems and secure as well as non-secure communications networks. This effort is information gathering only and not a solicitation for proprosals. No contracts will result from this notice. The HUD OIG desires to upgrade its automated workflow processes. The envirnoment is Windows 95 clients on a Novell NetWare v3.12 LAN. An examination of the work processes generated a listing of information management needs as explained below. Vendors with existing or prototype hardware and software to meet these needs are invited to send materials depicting their products to HUD OIG Automation Project Team, Room 8254, 451 7th St. NW, (POC. William Stine)Washington, DC 20410-4500. HUD OIG will use the information obtained to assist in determing what commercial off the shelf products exist to support the upgrade effort and may form the basis for future solicitation. Users are HUD OIG employees working in the functional areas of auditing, investigations, hum resources mgmt, legal counsel and operational mgmt. The work processes for which software is desired: conduct of audits, investigations, and mgmt of those areas; funtional area training and training mgmt; asset inventory; and document creation, editing, storage, reviewing and mgmt. Also needed are programs which develop a reference library and provide linkds to other reference libraries, human resource mgmt progrms, legal counsel support, financial/budget mgmt, cross-referencing/indexing capabilities and scanned document control programs. Information regarding a data communications network is also desired. The systems shall allow secure access behind a firewall and be able to detect and trace intrusion attempts. The system must be capable of detecting phone line monitoring, if using non-secure commercial llines. The system must be capable of accomplishing backup operationsand disaser recovery procedures. Backup media must be portable. The system must not be disabled for more than four hous.
