The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate with Fisher Scientific Corporation, 585 Alpha Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15238 on a sole source basis for the following items: (1) #91-250BP High Adjustable Laboratory Stool with Wooden Seat and Back Equipped with Glides, Qty. 118; (2) #91-251BP Low Adjustable Laboratory Stool with Wooden Seat and Back Equipped with Glides, Qty. 45. Required delivery is FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD between January 15, 1999 and February 15, 1999. The Government intends to solicit one source under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253 ( c ) (1), "Only One Responsible Source," because Fisher Scientific is the only supplier of durable laboratory stools intended for the harsh environment of an advanced chemistry laboratory. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within 15 days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
