Contracting Officer, (360) 396-0234 This procurement is for securing
professional services for the felling and removal of trees, stumps,
limbs, woody brush and other vegetation, pruning of trees, and planting
of forest tree seedlings. The work includes furnishing machinery, labor
and supervision, tools and equipment necessary to safely cut down and
remove marked broadleaved and coniferous trees; to remove and dispose
of approximately 100 stumps along Beach Drive; to dispose of off-base
or deck on-base at the designated site all merchantable portions of the
trees removed; to grind into chips all nonmerchantable portions of
trees felled; and to remove woody brush and other vegetation along
pipelines. There will be an option to provide and plant 1,000 forest
tree seedlings (stock type 2-0 or older) of Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga
menziesii), western redcedar (Thuja plicata) or grand fir (Abies
grandis) in a single species or a mix of species at a site designated
by the Government, in accordance with the scope of work. All work is to
be accomplished at the Navy's Manchester Fuel Department, Manchester
(Kitsap County) Washington. The trees, brush and other vegetation to be
removed are located adjacent to roads, pipelines, electrical
powerlines, fences and must be removed without touching or otherwise
harming or coming in contact with said powerlines, pipelines and
fences. Disposal may be either on or off the Navy base. All tree
removals, pruning, stump removals, slash treatments and herbicide
applications to cut stumps is to be completed within 100 days of the
date of contract award. Tree planting operation shall be accomplished
between 15 February and 30 March 1999. If you wish to receive a Request

Poulsbo, WA 98370-7570. This procurement is set aside for small busines
concerns only. The Standard Industrial Classification is 0851. A small
business concern is classified as "small" if its averge annual
receipts for its preceeding three fiscal years does not exceed $5M.
