The first item is for the .50 Caliber Machine Gun for a minimum quantity of 339 each and a maximum quantity of 1,200 each, P/N: 8401485, NSN: 1005-00-322-9715, item two (2) is for Bolt Subassembly for minimum quantity of 3,000 and a maximum quantity of 9,000 P/N: 6147463 NSN: 1005-00-614-7463, and item three (3) is for the Barrel Assembly for minimum quantity of 7,000 and a maximum quantity of 19,000,P/N 7 266131, NSN: 1005-00-626-6131. All of the above items must be manufactured to the Government Technical Data Package. Function fire testing is required. The .50 caliber M2 Machine Gun (P/N: 84021485) is the flex version and includes Basic Issues Items. It is a belt-fed, recoil operated, air- cooled, crew-operated Machine Gun which is capable of single shot, as well as automatic fire. It can be configured for either left or right hand feed and uses a disintegrating metallic link belt of ammunition. The force for recoil operation is furnished by expanding powder gases which are controlled by various springs, cams, and levers. Maximum surface of the barrel and receiver are exposed to permit air cooling. Perforations in the barrel support allow air to circulate around the breach end of the barrel and help in cooling the parts. The heavy barrel is used to retard early overheating. The gun has a leaf-type rear sight which has a windage knob. The front sight is a blade type with cover. The Bolt Subassembly (P/N:6147463), and Barrel Assembly(P/N: 7266131) are components of the M2 Machine Gun (P/N:8401485), and are additional assemblies which are over and above those already included in the Machine Guns.
