The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency anticipates the award of a firm-fixed price contract to provide all labor, materials, equipment and services for a Contractor to renovate laboratories (Phases II and III) at the Ecosystem Research Division of the National Exposure Laboratory Athens, Georgia. Phase I renovations began in June 1998. Phases II and III will upgrade the mechanical, electrical, telecommunications, plumbing and fire protection systems, as well as the main panel of the electrical distribution and the transfer switch work. New lighting will be installed in these two phases, as well as upgrades to Fire Protection and Life systems. Also, these two phases will also upgrade the remaining second floor laboratories, all first floor laboratories, toilet rooms (which will be made ADA compliant, with new fixtures, finishes, ceilings and lighting), corridors and stair wells. These two phases will also provide a new raised floor in the computer room, and upgrade Interior finishes (flooring, paint and ceilings) in the designated areas to be consistent with the current program of finish upgrade being undertakes at the facility. All included laboratories will receive new metal casework; fume hoods and related fixed lab equipment to match the Phase I renovations. The project (both phases) is estimated between $2,500,000.00 and $4,000,000.00. It is estimated that the solicitation will be ready for issuance around the 14th of August with a bid opening around the 15th of September. THIS IS NOT A SMALL BUSINESS SET A-SIDE.
