A modification has been made concerning this solicitation for Professional Service for Analytical Chemist. NIDA/IRP intends to issue a sole source order. The order will procure the services of Kristin Marie Marano, a Analytical Chemist in which she received her MS from Emory University in Analytical Chemistry in the year of 1997. Her area of expertise is electrochemistry; specifically HPLC/EC and rotating disk electrode voltametry. She has received extensive trainingin the conduct and analysis of conventional and quantitative microdialysis and was in charge of an electrochemistry laboratory. She has published on the kinetics of transporters and is an expert in the mainenance and troubleshooting of electrochemical equipment. She has also published in the drug addiction area. Given her qualifications, sole source justification is justified. Description of Services: The integrative Neuroscience Unit ofo the NIDA IRP is seeking a Masters or Ph.D level analytical Chemist with expertise in HPLC/EC, HPLC/fluorescence, microdialysis (conventional and quantitative) and rotating disk electrode voltametry. The individual will be responsible for: i) development of HPLC procedures foro the analysis of catecholamine and excitatory amino acid release from discrete regions of the CNS; ii) quantification of fentamolar-nanomolar concentrations of catecholamines/amino acids from CNS dialysate samples; iii) the conduct and analysis of conventional and quantitiative in vivo microdialysis experiments in the rodent and non-human primate; iv) design and conduct of kinetic studies of dopamine and serotonin transporter function using rotating disk electrode voltametry; v) assisting in the write-up and presentation of data. Familiarity with laboratory animals is essential. The individual will be part of a team assessing the mechanisms in the brain by which cocaine and methanphetamine produce long-term alterations in brain function.
