The Marine Corps System Command (MARCORSYSCOM) is currently defining its requirements for a Mobile Satellite Communication Network to support one unit with 1-2 satellite links over 2-4 terminals, and is interested in receiving information from companies which might have a system that meets the requirements listed below. The Mobile Satellite Communication Network is intended for providing a communication reach-back capability for the transmission of data, video, and voice traffic on a global scale. The Mobile Satellite Communication Network terminals and links must provide a minimum of 256 Kbps Full Duplex data transfer rate, and must be upgradeable. The Mobile Satellite Communication Network terminals and antennas, excluding power source, must weigh less than 300 pounds each and be portable by two Marines. The Mobile Satellite Communication Networkterminals must be powered by independent power source providing standard single or three phase power. The Mobile Satellite Communication Network terminals and links must be supported by an operator training program provided by the vendor. Parties which believe they have a Mobile Satellite Communication Network currently available which meets the needs of the Marine Corps are requested to provide a description of their packages to the address listed above.
