58 -- SELF-GUIDED AUDIO TOUR SYSTEM COMPONENTS (TOUR MATE) SOL 1422F915RFQ80019 DUE 070798 POC Michele Fugitt, Contracting Officer, (702)861-6420 The USDI, Bureau of Land Management in Reno, Nevada has a requirement to purchase the following: Self-Guided Audio Tour System Wands "Tour-Mate SC100" (80 each). The wands are being procured for use with existing Tour Mate hardware and software and are required to give the existing system room for expansion to foreign language capability. The wands must be compatible with existing SC100 wands in the following areas: 1. Shape: New wands should be capable of interchange with existing wands for re-charding purposes. They must fit easily into the recharging racks. 2. Recharge System: New wands must employ the same ni-cad re-charge system as the originals to avoid hardware damage. 3. Capacity: New wands must be able to accommodate 60 minutes of speech (consistent with existing wands). 4. Memory: New wands must have a memory type similar to the existing wands that use FLASH EEPROM type memory which mitigates against the requirement to reload tours on a daily basis. 5. Download Process: New wands must have the capability to be programmed with existing tours and via the existing Tour Mate SC100 charger/programmer units. New wands must have the capability to utilize an optical interface to transmit tour data into the wands. New wands must be able to accept tour data digitized and compressed using the Tour-Mate edit process. 6. Sampling Rate: New wands must be compatible with hardware using a digital signal processing chip or set of chips which sample data at a rate of 13 kilobits per second to prevent existing tours from sounding garbled. New wands must be interchangeable with and be able to run off of the existing Tour Mate SC100 charging and programming system. It is believed that there is only one source of wands that will be compatible with the existing system and that is Tour Mate SC100. If there are other sources capable of providing wands that meet all of the above specifications, they are invited to submit appropriate documentation, literature, and references to Michele Fugitt, Reference: RFQ: 1422F915RFQ80019, USDI BLM, 1340 Financial Blvd., Reno, NV 89502. If no organizations respond and demonstrate their capabilities within ten (10) business days from the date of posting of this notice, the Government intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Tour Mate Systems LTD, of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This notice is issued for informational purposes. Posted 06/24/98 (0175)
