X -- CONFERENCE FACILITIES, LODGING AND MEALS SOL MDA410-98-Q-0039 POC Vicki Liedel, (703) 696-3852, x1411 The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) requires a contractor to provide conference facilities, lodging, and meals for three sessions of Science Implementation Workshops to be held during the period of July 27-31, August 3-14, and August 10-14, 1998. Training workshops will be provided for High School Science (Grades 10-12) Courses Implementation (Jul 27-31); Integrated Science Middle and HS (Grades 6-9) Implementation, Aug 3-7; and Elementary Science Leadership Institute, Aug 3-14, 98. Lodging requirements are as follows: first week -- 40 single occupancy rooms; second week -- 80 single occupancy rooms; and third week -- 40 single occupancy rooms. Meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) will be required for each week. Meal requirements will also include one teacher banquet, three specialized dinners for the area, per workshop. DoDEA requires a large conference room/classroom to accommodate 40 participants and their instructors, equipped with tables for hands-on activities, and access to running water. One room is required for the first and third weeks and two rooms are required for the second week. In addition, two smaller rooms are required for break-out sessions to accommodate the chemistry, biology and physics strands. Workshops will begin at 8:00 am and end 4:00 pm, Monday thru Friday. AV requirements -- contractor shall provide overhead projectors, screens for the large conference room and each break-out room; vcrs and monitors for each room and flip charts and/or white boards are required for each room. The contractor will provide bus transportation for outings, 45 passenger bus, one evening per workshop for the first and third weeks and two buses for the second week. Local school buses can meet this requirement. Contractors must be within a 40-45 mile radius of Portland, ME airport.
