The Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division Keyport, intends to solicit for a Neodymium: YAG Laser Processing System consisting of all equipment, controls, safety features, software, manuals and training required to operate the laser equipment. The equipment will be utilized at NUWC Keyport by the Industrial Technology and Operations Department primarily for aluminum cladding of torpedo shells and other general purpose laser processing functions. The primary component of this procurement shall be a ND:YAG Continuous Wave (CW) Laser with a minimum output power of 2.8 kilowatts at the workpiece. The laser system shall include a fiber optic laser beam delivery system for directing the laser energy to the intended work area. The fiber optic delivery system shall be configured to enable an articulated, six axis robot position laser energy at any power setting to the work piece. The laser system shall include a cooling system (chiller) which shall enable the equipment to be operated at any specifiedpower setting, continuously. An integral, computer based controller shal be provided with the system to perform equipment diagnostics and laser beam control/monitoring. The controller shall enable users to produce, execute and store programs, which shall automatically control all laser parameters during processing operations. The controller shall also be able to interface to an external computer for remote program execution and control of laser parameters.
