Contracting Conference sponsored by OC-ALC Small Business Office, will
be in the Communications Center at Rose State College in Midwest City
OK, April 13-14, 1998. Featured speaker will be The Honorable J.C.
Watts Jr., Congressman, 4th District, Oklahoma. Invited speakers
include Ms. Betsy Myers, Deputy Assistant to the President and Director
for Women's Initiatives and Outreach; Ms. Luz Hopewell, Director of the
Office of Small & Disadvantaged Business Utilization, Department of
Transportation; and Mr. Lloyd C. Alderman, Defense Logistics Agency
Director of Small & Disadvantaged Business Utilization. A 4-hour
session 1-5 p.m., April 13, is for firms interested in construction and
contracting basics. April 14, breakout sessions will be in four tracks
(1) Services -- Telecommunications, Environmental Services and Support
Service Contracting; (2) Manufacturing -- Vendor Identification
Program, Source Qualification for Manufacture and/or Overhaul/Repair of
Aircraft Spare Parts, and ISO 9000; (3) Women and Minority Business
Issues-Certifications and Update on SBA 8(a) Program, Subcontracting
and Mentor-Protege and Contract Financing; and (4) General
Interest-IMPAC (Government Credit Card) Program, Contract Financing and
Electronic Commerce Programs. Co-sponsors are the Oklahoma Departments
of Commerce and Vo-Tech, Federal Aviation Administration, Small
Business Administration, Oklahoma City Minority Business Development
Center, Rose Stage College Small Business Development Center and
