VME-based computer workstation system with hardware which allows live video to be viewed in "windows" on the workstatioin monitor while other computer tasks are being performed. The hardware must accept high definition TV (HDTV) video from the periscope for display on the workstation monitor. The HDTV format is based on the "SMPTE-240M" video standard: 1125 lines interlaced, 33.75 kHz horizontal frequency, 60Hz vertical frequency.
