The National Science Foundation has a requirement for off-site storage services for its electronic data and hard copy back-up records. The NSF has a large computer infrastructure that consists of an IBM mainframe, a Hewlett Packard mainframe, plus Local Area Network (LAN), and e-mail services. NSF maintains weekly, bi-weekly, monthly and yearly storage/return cycles for its electronic data. NSF also generates hardcopy records for its backup data. The various services will be required: Pick-up and return of electronic data media materials; pick-up of paper back-up documents; monthly storage and activity reports; unscheduled pick-up and return of electronic data media or paper documents. The electronic data media will include the following formats: 3480 tape cartridges, standard 9 track tapes, 8mm tape cartridges, and 4mm tape cartridges. An Invitation for Bid solicitation will be issued with a certification of compliance of vault requirements. The solicitation will contain 4 optional years. This acquisition is a 100% small business set-aside. Acquisition will be procured under the Simplified Acquisition Threshold. The Standard Industrial Classification Code for this acquisition is: 7379 N.E.C. -- Computer Services Not Elsewhere Classified. The size standard is $18 million in annual receipts over the last three fiscal years. It is preferred that the contractor off-site data storage facility be located within a 100 kilometer (62-mile) radius of the NSF Headquarters, Arlington, Virginia. Any bidder intending to use off-site data storage facilities outside this area should furnish information, with their bid, which will on its face demonstrate ability to meet the scheduled requirements.
