SIC:4952, $5.0 million NPS REQUIREMENT: The National Park Service at Mount Rushmore intends to purchase two floating, self-contained, electric motor-driven,propeller-type, horizontal, integrated, fine-bubble aspirating aerators. Each aerator shall be capable of providing at least 1.50 pounds per horsepower per hour of oxygen transfer under clean water conditions. Claimed oxygen transfer rates shall ahve been verifed by independent agency testing. Each unit shall be as described below: The drive motor and upper portion of the aerator shall be above the water surface and supported by a float assembly incorporating four pontoon floats. Floats shall be molded low-density polyethylene filled with urethane foam. Minimum individual float buoyancy shall be 600 pounds. Floats shall be connected by a galvanized steel framework which permits rotating the 45 degree inclined aerator completely up and out of the water for field servicing the unit from a grated work surface. The framework shall include a 316 ss mounting flange which permits removal of the aerator while leaving the motor in place. Each aspirating aerator assembly shall include a splash related submerisble drive motor, drive shaft and coupling, hollow shaft housing, lower bearing, sleeve, propeller, air diffuser, and vortex shield. The submersible cast iron frame motor shall be 25 hp, 1.15 service factor, 1800 rpm,230/460 volt, 60 Hz,three phase type specifically designed for inclined service. Permissible shaft runout shall not exceed 0.0025 TIR. The hollow drive shaft shall be 316 ss full-welded to a carbon steel universal joint coupling. A replaceable zirconia sleeve shall be securely attached to the shaft at the bearing location. The housing shall be 316ss. The lower end of the housing shall have a field replaceable, molded elastomer, fiber backed process liquid lubricated bearing. openings shall be provided for air intake and bering liquid lubrication. The field replaceable, self-tighting, investment-cast 316 ss propeller shall be specifically designed to maximize oxygen transfer and mixing characteristics. The entire flow of aspirated air shall pass through the propeller via the hollow drive shaft. A 316ss diffuser on the end of the propeller shaft shall expel the aspirated air fas fine as bubbles per EPA report #EPA-600/2-82-003. An anti-vortexing, anti, cavitation sheld shall be provided. All mounting hardware and cables shall be stainless steel. The aerator unit shall be cable stayed to the existing structure to maintain its position in the treatment basin. Due to space constraints, the aerators shall be suitable for field assembly inside the covered treatment basin. The aerator unit shall include 12 month unconditional labor guarantee and concurrent 36 month unconditional parts guarantee. (0050)
