This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation to be issued. Proposals are being requested and there will be no other written solicitation issued. Responses should reference Request for Proposal No. DE-RQ04-98AL78269. This synopsis/solicitation document incorporates the provisions and clauses that are in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 97-02. This is a Small Business Set-Aside. The recommended Standard Industrial Classification Code (SIC) for this procurement is 3537 with a corresponding size standard of 750 employees. Firms responding should indicate whether or not they are small business, small women-owned business, small disadvantaged business, or 8(a) business, in accordance with the referenced SIC Code. The Department of Energy, Albuquerque Operations Office (DOE-AL) intends to procure, under a fixed price contract a quantity of one (1) Four-wheel drive Forklift of at least 6,000 lb. capacity @ 24" load center; 168" standard mast, 119" overall lowered mast height; 5.7" free lift; 4 speeds forward and reverse/full syncromesh; 4 cyl. diesel-powered engine, 75 hp; clutch cutout bottom; hand-foot throttles; 80" long (or longer) x 5" wide x 1.75" thick tapered forks, adjustable (in and out as well as right to left from the driver's seat); sideshifting carriage with fork positioner; hydraulic controls only (no chains, cables, or belts); 8 to 12 ply pneumatic tires- 15x19.5 drive tires and 12x16.5 steer tires; enclosed cab with heater/defroster; strobe light; "slow-moving vehicle" sign on rear; rear pintle hitch, back-up alarm, block heater, 2 rear flood lights, 2 front flood lights. Rough terrain forklift to drive on unpaved and uneven surfaces; i.e., dirt, gravel, unimproved surfaces. Must meet OSHA requirements. Only those vendors who can furnish the forklift as described herein will be considered; nosubstitute item will be accepted. Offerors may propose more than one product that will meet the Government's need. FOB point is Destination and delivery is required within 30 days after Contract award.
