R -- TITLE II INSTITUTIONAL SUPPORT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM SOL M/OP-98-372 DUE 042098 POC Contact Point: Tad Findeisen, (202) 712-1196 The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), BHR/FFP invites US-based PVOs currently registered with USAID, cooperatives as well as the World Food Programme (WFP) and other eligible organizations whose applications meet BHR/FFP objectives stated in the RFA to respond to this Solicitation. The qualified Applicants must be eligible to receive USAID financial assistance under Title II of the Agricultural Trade Development and Assistance Act of 1954, as amended, Public Law 480 (P.L. 480). As stated in the legislation, Title II has been established to provide agricultural commodities to foreign countries on behalf of the people of the United States to: (1) address famine or other urgent or extraordinary relief requirements; (2) combat malnutrition, especially in children and mothers; (3) carry out activities that attempt to alleviate the causes of hunger, mortality and morbidity; (4) promote economic and community development; (5) promote sound environmental practices; and (6) carry out feeding programs. The RFA text (Solicitation) contains all essential and relevant information (e.g., the USAID Program goals, types of eligible programs, expected results, evaluation criteria to be used in the applications review process).
