Soldier Systems Command (SSCOM), Natick Research and Development Center
has a requirement for 188 body armor plate mock-ups. The plate required
is an upper torso interchangeable, compound curve, front and back plate
which protects the vital organs against various .30 caliber threats.
The mock-up design shall simulate the weight, size, and density and
shape of an actual ballistic plate (estimated at 4.8 lbs/sq. ft. at .7
inches thick). The mock-up plate shall be made of an extremely durable
material which can withstand being subjected to extended operational
tests in the field without damage. Upon request a copy of the Request
For Quote (RFQ) and a copy of the drawing will be sent to potential
contractors. To be eligible for award, a contractor must deliver a
Product Demonstration Model (PDM) and quote to the Government by March
2, 1998. The requirement calls for delivery of items by April 1, 1998.
The evaluation criteria for award are cost, delivery schedule, and
quality of the PDM. Thesefactors are considered to be of equal
importance. Multiple awards may be made for this requirement. This
requirement is being procured under simplified acquisition procedures
and is a 100% set-aside for small business. The standard industrial
classification (SIC) code is 2399 ad the size standard is 500
