The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport intends to award a Firm Fixed Price Contract on a Sole Source basis to Structural Dynamics Research Corporation of Herndon, VA for renewal and maintenance/support for existing SDRC I-DEAS software. Coverage will include updates and extensions to the I-DEAS software to maintain state of the art engineering design and finite element modeling and analysis capability as well as an industry wide compatibility with other I-DEAS installations, documentation updates to reflect software enhancements and application guidance and a hot line telephone system with engineers capable of answering general questions about program capabilities and functions as well as assisting users in applying I-DEAS to specific engineering design problems. Contract period will be for twelve months. Services shall be provided at NUWCDIVNPT, Newport, RI. The Government plans to issue a request for written quote using Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). The anticipated award date is 4 March 1998. This action is being processed on a Sole Source basis due to the fact that the company is the sole developer of this proprietary software, the Master License Agreement currently in place is proprietary to Structural Dynamics Research Corporation, and it is the only source that has the technical expertise to provide the required maintenance.
