TEST INSTRUMENTATION COMMUNICATION BUS TO BE DEFINED The Department of Defense (DoD) through the Next Generation Instrumentation Bus (NexGenBus) Project Office at the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Patuxent River, Maryland, is offering industry the opportunity to participate in defining the test instrumentation bus for the future. The Office of Secretary of Defense (OSD) has tasked the NexGenBus Project Office with conducting a study of available and near-horizon communication bus standards. The purpose of this study is to determine suitability for use as a bus standard in future test instrumentation systems. The Project Office is nearing completion of NexGenBus requirements definition and an extensive search for available and near horizon bus standards. The study will soon begin focusing on determining which (if any) of the available and near horizon bus standards have potential for use as a next generation instrumentation bus standard. The NexGenBus Project Office is offering industry the opportunity to provide input/comments on the following items (found on the web site or obtained by request): (1) Future data system requirements. (2) Requirements of a next generation instrumentation bus. (3) Any non-proprietary commercial or military busses which should be considered for evaluation. Due to the project schedule, inputs made after February, may not be as useful as they would otherwise, but are still welcome.
