619-532-1301 DESCRIPTION OF WORK -- The Marine Corps Reserve Center
will include the following functions: Classrooms, administrative, drill
hall, medical annex, communication shop, vehicle maintenance shop,
warehouse, motor pool with wash rack and locker rooms. Over an acre
will be under roof and all the structures are one story. Site
improvements will entail about ten acres. Site work includes utilities,
landscaping, irrigation, asphalt paving, and oil water separators.
Expansive soils will be overexcavated and a poured in place concrete
foundation will be used. The structural system will consist of load
bearing concrete masonry units for most of the facility with structural
steel for tall volumes. The roof assembly will be comprised of steel
joists with metal decks covered with rigid insulation and built up
roofing. Exterior finishes will consist of various exposed textured CMU
as well as portions of plaster. Interior finishes will include: gypsum
board, tile, acoustical ceilings, resilient sheet flooring, carpet,
painting and coating. Specialites will include: toilet partitions and
accessories, louvers, flagpoles, signage, lockers, fire extinguishers
and cabinets, wire mesh partitions, and operable partitions. Equipment
will include: vault doors, projection screens, dock levelers, package
lift station, and blinds. Special construction will include: asbestos
containing materials, fire alarm and sprinkler systems. Conveying
systems include an overhead crane. HVAC will be Unitary air
conditioning equipment. Electrical will include distribution, lighting,
power, telephone and LAN. Contractors should be aware that the Naval
Weapons Center has a very high level of security. Excavation into
non-fill soils will be observed by a Native American Monitor for
potential artifact discoveries. -- This is not a public bid opening. --
The estimated cost is $5 million and $10,000,000.00. -- Firm Fixed
Price Contract. -- Contract duration is approximately 365 calendar
days. -- Proposals will be considered from all responsible sources. --
This project is unrestricted. -- The Standard Industrial Code is 1541
and the annual size is $17 million. It is recommended the
subcontracting goals reflect a minimum goal of 5% for Small
Disadvantaged Business Subcontracting effort. Bidders should request in
writing stating RFP number N68711-97-B-8232, with complete name,
address, area code and phone number and whether bidding as a
prime/subcontractor/supplier. -- Telephone requests will not be

this advertisement will not be required to resubmit request once
formally advertised. -- Tentative issue date is on or about 17 February
1998 with an opening date of approximately 30 days later (NOTE: BOD
stated above is TENTATIVE). -- Responses are due no later than 15
