dduval@email.usps.gov. This solicitation invites proposals for the
design and installation of a hollow light guide system at the Ft.
Lauderdale, FL, Processing & Distribution Center located at 1900 West
Oakland Park Blvd. The demonstration program will use the Fusion Solar
1000 lamp to relight a low-bay industrial facility. Sources with the
appropriate lighting expertise will be considered. This project is to
be a showcase of the Sulfur Lamp technology currently available. This
electrode-less source has been installed in other locations and this
application is thought to be a reasonable progression from other
Demonstration Projects. The latest version of the lamp, the Solar 1000,
is the commercially available model ready for sale to appropriate
companies. The successful offeror must be capable ot developing a
design and product for application of the various available lighting
markets. The product should be widely usable in similar applications
throughout the potential new construction as well as its relighting
markets. The successful offeror will have a demonstrated ability to
perform this type of work, experience with this type of prototype
installation, experience with any type of prototype installation,
experience with any "showcase" type of project and experience with a
job of this magnitude. The successful offeror must demonstrate
corporate stability and the ability to produce the required products
with minimum risk to the U S Postal Service. A preproposal conference
has been scheduled for February 19, 1998, at the facility at 10:00 AM.
