58 -- HIGH PULSE POWER, COMPACT LASER SYSTEM SOL F08651-98-Q-0579 DUE 021398 POC Contact Julie Shaddock, Contract Specialist, (850)882-8280, Kim Williams, Contracting Officer The Air Force Development Test Center (AFDTC), Eglin AFB, FL, intends to solicit, negotiate and award a sole source, firm-fixed priced contract under Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items to Big Sky Laser Technologies, Inc., PO Box 8100, Bozeman, MT for the delivery of a high pulse power, laser system. The laser must be capable of operating at 30 Hz with pulse energies no less than 50 mJ at 1.57 microns. The pulse to pulse timing jitter shall be no greater than 8 nsec. It shall be capable of operating a mode that allows the user to trigger when the optical pulse is generated. The system shall include all accessory components, such as control electronics and the cooling system that is compatible with the laser head. It shall all operate using 110 vac input, and draw less than 10 A. The laser beam shall have a divergence less than 12 mrad. The laser head must be small and should not occupy more than 250 cubic inches. It must weigh less than 15 pounds. Computer interface to the laser must be possible via RS232 interface. The laser must be capable of withstanding shocks and vibrations associated with transportation and be capable of operation in either the laboratory or the field.
