interface definition of Crash Survivable Flight Incident Recorder
System. The Naval Air Systems Command intends to negotiate with
McDonnell Douglas Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Boeing
Corporation, P.O. Box 516 St Louis, MO 63166-0516, for procurement of
engineering and technical support for the selection and interface
definition of a Crash Survivable Flight Incident Recording System
(CSFIR), for the F/A-18A/B/C/D aircraft. As the developer, designer and
sole manufacturer of the F/A-18 Aircraft, McDonnell Douglas is the only
firm with the requisite skills, knowledge of the F/A-18 Aircraft system
design and equipment integration necessary to satisfy the Government
