24TH DISTRICT TEXAS CONGRESSMAN MARTIN FROST FEDERAL PROCUREMENT CONFERENCE On 19 August 1997, Congressman Martin Frost in cooperation with the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) Cross Timbers Procurement Center will sponsor a federal procurement conference in Arlington, Texas. Registration will begin at 7:30 A.M. in the E.H. Hereford University Center at UTA. In addition to Congressman Frost, distinguished speakers include: Captain Dick Ginman, Deputy for Acquisition and Business Management for the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Research, Development and Acquisition), Mr. Drew Casani the Program Coordinator of the Small Integrated Manufacturing Enterprise (SIME) group, Automation & Robotics Research Institute of UTA, Ms. Grace Saenz (Small Business Administration), Mr. Ken Sweitzer (Defense Finance and Accounting Service HQ), Mr. Don Spry (Defense Logistics Support Center), Ms. Gloria Estrada (Naval Air Station, Joint Reserve Base) and Mr. Don McNeil (301st USAF Fighter Wing). Emphasis will be on Electronic Commerce/Electronic Data Interchange (EC/EDI) and breaking into the government market, specifically with the Department of Defense. Numerous prime contractors will also be in attendance. Other topics that will be discussed during this conference are: Service, Construction and Environmental Contracting; Doing Business with State Buying Activities; Business Issues (marketing plans, accounting, computers, etc.); Value Added Networks (VANS); and Specialized Procurement Issues just to name a few.
