The Flathead National Forest will be advertising an Invitation for Bids for Cable Car & Wheeler Creek Flood Repair, Hungry Horse and Spotted Bear Ranger Districts, Flathead County, Montana. The project is located in the South Fork Flathead River drainage and consists of repairing Cable Car Slide (cut slope) and repairing fill slopes and doing ditch work at two sites in the vicinity of Wheeler Creek. The work includes excavation and disposal of slide and ditch material; pit, quarry and rock screening site development; manufacturing, hauling, and placing rock backfill, riprap, drain rock, and gabion rock; hauling and placing aggregate surfacing; furnishing and placing select granular backfill and geotextile fabric; constructing rock buttresses, gabions, rocked ditch drains and underdrain with collector pipe; and seeding and fertilizing the sites. Issue date, August 4, 1997. The Notice to Proceed will be issued approximately October 6, 1997, with an estimated completion date of October 1, 1998.
