The National Cancer Institute, Division of Basic Sciences, Laboratory of Human Carcinogenesis, intends to negotiate a modification to add new work to Contract N02-BC-71006 currently being performed by the University of Maryland at Baltimore. The Contractor will perform subject accrual, questionnaire administration and computerization, specimen collection, processing and delivery for a 1200 subject case-control lung cancer study targeting the Baltimore metropolitan area population. The Contractor will be required to accrue 400 cases and 800 controls (400 hospital-based heavy smokers; 400 population based, matched to cases) and all divided equally between men and women and Caucasian and African-American subjects. This modification will require the hiring of up to three new nurses with experience in case-control procedures or with immediate access to training in this research area.
