C -- RENOVATE RESEARCH BLDG. 4 DUE 070397 POC Tracy Marasco, Contracting Officer (415) 614-9818 or James Grissett (415) 617-2671 This project provides for (1) renovation of approximately 23, 000 sq. ft. of the thierd floor of Bldg. 4 for research service, to provde laboratories including all untilites and facility support service space. Work shall include drawings and specifications for the following: a: Demolish all interior walls, floor finishes, suspended ceiling finishes, and abandoned utilities, including asbestos abatement and rerouting of exising utilites. B. Installation of new walls, doors, interior finishes, equipment, cabinets and required utilities. C. Modify exising fire alarm and sprinkler system to meet NFPA requirements. D. Upgrade main 12.47 KVA transformer to 2000 KVA, install all necessary hardware and equipment to supply power. E. Provide new HVAC supply, return, and exhaust system. F. Provde Gas, Vacuum and air to all lab benches and hoods complete with all necessary supply lines, pumps and equipment. G. New water riser valves for cold, and hot water returns. H. All necessary emergency eye wash, floor drains, emergency showers required for laboratories. SELECTION CRITERIA: Each interested firm shall be evaluated on the following criteria; (1) Professional qualifications necessary for satisfactorily performance of the required services; (2) Specialized experience and technical competence in the type of work required; (3) Capacity to accomplish the work in the required time; (4) Past performance on contracts with Government agencies and private industry in terms of cost control, quality of work and compliance with performance schedules; (5) Location in the general geographical area of the project and knowledge of the locality of the project. Considerations is limited to firms having an existing design production office within a 75 mile radius of VA Palo Alto Health Care System.. At least one member of any proposed joint venture must have an existing design production office within the geographic limitation. Joint venture or firm/consultant arrangements will be considered and evaluated ona demonstrated interdependency of the members to provide a quality design effor. Respondents must demonstrate capability to perform 80% of all contract services in existing production offices within the geographic limitations. This notice is unrestricted and invites full and open competition.
