The scope of work for this project includes providing provide all material, labor, tools, plant, supplies, equipment, transportation, superintendence, temporary construction of every nature, and all other services and facilities necessary for the renovation and construction of an existing building to a Processing and Distribution Center (P&DC) for the Postal Service. The existing building (formerly Sears Catalog Facility) is a three-story concrete structure of approximately 926,000 square feet located on approximately 30 acres in Kansas City, Missouri. The new Postal Service P&DC will occupy the basement, first and second floors. The third floor will be left vacant for future postal needs. The scope of work includes extensive site and building demolition, construction, and renovation as described in the contract specifications and shown on the contract drawings. Included within the work is the fabrication, installation, and testing of a bulk mail system. This is a prequalified project. Only prequalified contractors will be allowed to submit proposals on this project. A Pre-Proposal Conference will be conducted at the existing P&DC facility, 3625 Truman Road, Kansas City, Missouri, at 1:00pm on May 23, 1997. The prequalified contractors have been furnished copies of the solicitation. Sets of the solicitation are available to interested parties and may be purchased at a cost of $300 per set.
