A -- INSTALLATION OF A MULTI-LEVEL ACOUSTIC ARRAY IN WELL SOL DE-AFO7-97ID10941 DUE 020597 POC Kathleen M. Stallman, 208-526-7038, Bradley G. Bauer, Contracting Officer, 208-526-0090 The U.S. Department of Energy, Idaho Operations Office (DOE-ID), intends to award a sole-source simplified acquisition for installation of a multi-level acoustic array in well GDCF63 at the Geysers geothermal field in California to Unocal Geothermal & Power Operations. The array will consist of five 3-component geophones cemented in place in the well from a depth of 870 feet to the surface for monitoring and locating fractures by mapping acousitic emissions resulting from geothermal injection and production. The system maintanance and transfer of data for DOE researchers to collect and analyze will be provided by Unocal. The well, operated by Unocal, is the only well available and offered for this type of research. The period of performance is from 030197 to 093097. This research will be useful to the geothermal community and advances the goals of the Reservoir Technology Research program in terms of identifying technologies to improve geothermal reservoir management and obtaining industry cooperation and support for geothermal research.
