66 -- SIX (6) THREE-SENSOR TIDE AND DIRECTIONAL WAVE GAGES SOL 126&&&-9610-0001 POC Contract Specialist, CYNTHIA SIMS (601) 634-4317 (Site Code DACW39) The USAE Waterways Experiment Station (WES) proposes to award a contract to Woods Hole Instrument Systems, Ltd., for the purchase of six, three-sensor tide and directional wave gages. The gages shall be comprised of three digi-quartz pressure sensors and an electronics cylinder containing batteries and a mini-computer for data acquisition, data storage and real- time data transfer. Also to be included are all underwater cables and connectors from the electronic cylinder to the sensors. In use, the sensors and cylinder will be deployed on the seafloor in water depths to 20 meters; the sensors will be at the apices of a horizontal equilateral triangle with a 72-in. baseline. Data storage shall be in solid-state memory. Gage orientation shall be provided by an internal, auto- compensated, flux-gate compass. Resolution of measured wave data shall be at least 1 cm in significant wave height and 2 degrees in wave direction. Internal battery power and memory shall be capable of recording 12 months of tide and directional wave data specified as follows: 1) Waves - from each sensor: 34-min-long records, sampled at 1 Hz, and obtained at least as often as every 2 hrs; and 2) Tides - from at least one sensor: continuous 15-min averages. All gages shall be capable of simultaneous data acquisition, internal recording, and real-time data transmission to a shore box via seven-conductor, 22-awg, double-armored well-logging cable up to 2 km long. Shore box and armored cable are not included in this purchase. The Government intends to award a contract to Woods Hole Instrument Systems, Ltc., under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1).
