National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism intends to negotiate
a nine month contract with The Lewin Group for a project entitled
''Estimating the Economic Cost of Alcohol and Drug Abuse.'' The
proposed contract will complete a study already substantially underway
of the economic costs of alcohol and drug abuse in the United States
for 1992, with projections to 1995. The report will provide detailed
and updated estimates of the economic cost of alcohol and drug abuse
and the underlying methodology used to produce those estimates.
Authority: 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), as set forth in FAR 6.302-1. The Lewin
Group is the only responsible source possessing the specific data
sets, computer programs, and analytic techniques relating to the
methods employed in this project. Inquiries must be made in writing,
telephone inquiries are unacceptable. All responsible sources may
submit a proposal which, if timely, will be considered by the
