66 -- STERILIZATION-IN-PLACE MOBILE PILOT PLANT WITH PORTABLE COMPUTER SOL 96-120 POC Pam Legare (513-366-2015) The U.S. EPA in Cincinnati, OH has a requirement for a Sterilizable-In-Place Mobile Pilot to incubate large quantities of bacterial populations in the laboratory and the field. The unit must be completely Sterilizable in place, be able to ferment 80 liters of media, be portable so that it can be taken into the field, be sturdy enough so that it can be taken into the field and still function (i.e. pipings & fittings & microprocessor must be able to withstand the shock of traveling). The unit must be able to measure and monitor dissolved oxygen, pH, temperature, and nutrient feed. Temperature must be controllable within 0.2 degrees celsius.
