D -- UPGRADE VX2000 SUMMER DIGITIZER SOL RFQ60129-NS POC Patricia Haun, Contracting Officer (301) 402-4509. The National Cancer Institute (CNI) plans to procure on a sole source basis under authority of FAR 6.302-1 modifications to a VX2000 summer digitizer from John Steffani, 18845 Ave B., Perris, CA 92570. The modifications to the VX2000 would increase the data buffer to 16k and the data on the VX2000 could be downloaded after each 2D section has been collected. This will cut down the time of 2D acquisition from 5 minutes to 5-30 seconds. Improvement of the digitizer/summer would increase speed of acquisition and hence allow from more detail investigation of the role of free radical in biological systems. Mr. Steffani built this summer/digitizer and is the only expert who can modify the instrument in a reasonable period of time. He has knowledge of the NCI's Fourier Transofrm pulsed EPR system of which the digitizer/summer is a part. This familiarity is also critical to the timely modification of the system. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals, however, if any interested party believes they can meet the above, they may submit a statement of capabilities. Information furnished shall include enough material, in sufficient detail, to perform a proper evaulation of their ability to perform and must be received within 20 days of the publication of this notice.
