59 -- S-BAND RECEIVER SOL RFQ5-79121 POC Donna Broderick Purchasing Agent 301 286-7960. NASA Goddard Space Flight Center intends to issue RFQ5-79121, on a sole source basis to Aydin Vector Division, 47 Friends Lane, Newtown, PA 18940-0328, for the purchase of one S-Band Receiver under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(C) (1)-Only One Responsible Source. The S-Band receiver shall receive an uplink Continuous Wave (CW) signal from either the Space Transporting System or the Space Flight Tracking and Data Network station. The signal is a carrier linearly phase modulated by a 16 khz subcarrier which is bi-phase modulated by the baseband data. The rate of this data is 2kbps and the format is in NRZ-M. The receiver shall demodulate the uplink CW signal and shall provide the subcarrier to the spacecraft. The unit must at a maximum weigh 27 ounces with a maximum foot print of 7.0 x 4 inches and a height not exceeding 1.4 inches. This receiver is the only airborne receiver of its size that is phase demodulated, that has IF intermediate frequency and video filtering which is optimized for this type of application, and that will withstand the environment of missile launch/spaceflight. The governemnt will provide complete specifications as part of the RFQ package.
