The Defense Mapping Agency (DMA) has a requirement to replace approximately 2 Terabytes of IBM 3380/3390 DASD storage with an MVS RAID solution. The existing DASD is located on three IBM mainframes; two in Reston, Virginia, and one in St. Louis, Missouri. The proposed solutions must 1) be capable of supporting a Model 204 (M204) database and legacy applications; 2) emulate 3380 geometry to support legacy applications; 3) support a mix of IBM's Enterprise System Connection (ESCON) and parallel connectivity to the existing mainframes; 4) operate in an MVS (4.x, 5.x, or OS/390) environment with or without ESCON Multiple Image Facility (EMIF); 5) be available for delivery and installation within 30 days of contract award; and 6) provide a cost-effective path for growth and scalability. This procurement encompasses 1) delivery and installation of all hardware and associated software to meet the above requirement, 2) training, 3) technical and engineering support during the transition of legacy data/software from exisiting DASD to the proposed solution, and 4) preparation, disassembly, and packaging of existing DASD equipment for Government excess.
