70 -- CARTS PRINTER INTERFACE UNIT ASSEMBLIES SOL N00253-96-R-0026 POC Contact Point: Victor Angkico 360-396-5671 The Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division Keyport is soliciting for 35 Each, CARTS Printer Interface Unit (PIU) Assemblies, P/N N9512 and 5 Each, CARTS Printer Interface Unit (PIU) Single Board Processors, P/N N9512B. These items are to be used in the new design MK 23 Mod 1 Graphic Plotter Units which has been approved by NAVSEA for implementation aboard Ohio Class submarines. The government intends to negotiate this requirement with CARTS, 3950 Sorrento Valley Blvd., Suite F, San Diego, CA 92121, on a sole source basis. CARTS possesses the proprietary design to interface shipboard Navy Tactical Data System (NTDS) and Standard Information Display (SID) outputs to a commercial off the shelf laser printer utilizing the H.P. Graphics Language (HPGL) for hardcopy output. Due to the high maintenance costs associated with the MK 23 Mod 0, the government requires the interface units to replace the antiquated Mk 23 Mod 0 graphics plotter unit with a readily available laser printer. Delivery of 5 EA of P/N N9512 will be required by 30 Sep 96 with the remainder of the units and P/N N9512B required by 30 Nov 96. The government can not provide specifications for a competitive procurement. The RFP will be issued on or about 31 July 1996 with a 30 day closing.
