COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 11,1996 PSA#1613U.S.Department of Energy, Attn: Mr. C. Rick Jones, EH-52 19901
Germantown Road, Germantown, MD 20874-1290 66 -- VOULANTARY PARTICIPATION IN PILOT TESTING OF HEALTH PHYSICS
SOCIETY STANDARDS COMMITTEE APPROVED HPS N13.29,''ENVIRONMENTAL
DOSIMETRY PERFORMANCE - CRITERIA TESTING.'' POC C. Rick Jones,
Director, Office of Worker Protection Programs and Hazards Management.
This is not a sources sought for an acquisition nor a financial
assistance instrument with the Department of Energy. The contact person
is a member of a team of persons from private sector, academia, and
other federal agencies. His capacity with the Department of Energy is
not relative to this pilot test. The Health Physics Society Standards
Committee has approved HPS N13.29, ''Environmental Dosimetry
Performance - Criteria for Testing'' for Pilot Testing. All interested
in voluntarily participating in the Pilot Testing of the HPS N13.29
standard please contact C. Rick Jones at the address identified in this
notice. As stated in the Scope of the N13.29 standard: ''This standard
applies to the performance of processors engaged in environmental
radiation dosimetry using any passive dosimeters suitable for this
purpose. Included are test procedures and criteria for determining
performance, under laboratory and field conditions. Radiation
categories used for testing under laboratory conditions include photon
and beta radiation. This standard does not include testing in mixed
radiation fields. The processor shall determine and document dosimeter
energy and angular response and neutron radiation sensitivity, where
applicable.'' The Pilot Testing of the standard is envisioned to
involve a representative sampling of environmental dosimeters,
including the various types of dosimeters and their application. For
those interested in participation in the Pilot Testing of this
standard, please provide the following information in your request to
participate: dosimeter make and model, application (e.g., reactor,
medical, fuel fabrication, environmental remediation/cleanup, etc),
isotopes of interest for monitoring, and certify the dosimeters to be
tested are environmental dosimeters. Expressions of interest are
requested by August 15, 1996. Pilot testing is anticipated to commence
this fall. (0159) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0288 19960610\66-0016.SOL)
