12 -- M109A6 PALADIN AUTOMATIC FIRE CONTROL SYSTEM (AFCS) SOFTWARE UP GRADE FOR COMPATIBILITY WITH THE PACKAGE 11 FIRE SUPPORT SYSTEMS DUE 121395 POC Robert McMinn, Contract Specialiast, 201-724-3504, email=rmcminn; Gregory L. The U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC and PM-Paladin require the engineering, design, development, integration, test, evaluation, and documentation of an AFCS Software Block Upgrade (SBU) to reside within the M109A6 Paladin to maintain interfaces with Package 11 Fire Support Systems, i.e. Battery Computer System, Forward Observer System, and Firefinder, using MIL-STD-188-220A and Variable Message Format protocols. The contractor shall collaborate with the Government to incorporate the Package 11 functionality defined in the Paladin Version 11 Requirements Summary List (RSL). The V11 RSL will be apportioned amongst the contractor and Government, to engineer the modifications to the GFM AFCS software baselines, V10.5E and V10.6. The contractor shall integrate and test the initial software baselines, design/implement/test/document functional changes and additions as allocated from the RSL, interface with the Government to insure interoperability of respective changes, and participate in the final integration process at the Government facility to generate, test, and release the final V11 AFCS software product for use in technical and operational tests, and for fielding by the U.S. Army. This effort is intended as a follow-on to currently contracted efforts for V11 requirements engineering and Task Force XXI demonstration software. The Government intends to solicit this requirement on a sole source basis to Alliant Techsystems, Inc., 600 Second Street N.E., Hopkins, Minnesota 55343.
