The following Salient Characteristics must be met at a minimum: based on a true matrix switched architecture; support multimedia applications that combine - real-time video, voice, image, and data; support existing networks and offers a migration path to a homogeneous ATM cell-based switching architecture; advanced cell switching technology based on BISDN Asynchronus Transfer Mode (ATM) standards; must offer a scalable switching architecture and operate up to 622 Mbps; must support up to 16-ATM interfaces that interconnect to an 16x16 matrix switch; ATM 4 Port Switch Port Card; ATM management module; Ethernet SAR card; multimode fiber taxi network module; and ATM LAN software HP platform. The Switch must be compatible with the following Xyplex items: 15 slot chassis, P/N N9-9015-001; managed power supply, P/N N9-130-000; 401 bridge/router processor module, 8 Mbytes RAM, P/N N9-401-000-8; ATM I/O module, multi-mode SC connector, P/N N9-000-520; FDDI to ethernet bridge/router I/O module with multi-mode, P/N N9-000-512.
