The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Patuxent River, MD intends to procure a replacement for the Horizontal Situation Indicator (HSI) on-board the P-3 aircraft. The current minimum requirements are that the unit shall have all of the current capability of the ID-1540/A HSI, and in addition, provide the interfacing capability for the Global Positioning System data via ARINC 429 and TACAN data via ARINC 582. Provisions shall also be made for the display of external video data via an RS-170 interface. The display technology shall be an Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Display (AMLCD) with the ''glass'' provided by a domestic (on-shore) vendor. Any vendor which ultimately offers off-shore glass will be considered non-compliant with the specifications and will be eliminated from consideration. A draft specification will be issued in June 1995 with comments and questions due approximately thirty (30) days thereafter. The Request for Proposal will be issued once comments are incorporated into the draft specification. Previous requests for information regarding this requirement will be superseded by information contained in this solicitation. Information regarding quantity, unit of issue, destination information, and delivery schedule will be provided with the draft specification. All responsible sources may submit a bid, proposal, or quotation which shall be considered by this agency.
