The building will be located near the existing hospital. The site slopes away from the hospital to a maximum of a 7-foot drop. Work will include the new building, connecting corridor, covered entrance, site work, utility connections, driveway, and replacement parking. The new building will incude structural, architectural, electric, signal, lighting, plumbing, HVAC, fire sprinklers, fire alarm, etc. to meet construction requirements, per drawings and specifications, of a good quality medical office building. The overall appearance will be consistent with the historic site. Work will conform to current codes. Specific construction methods and dimensions may vary to allow for a quality facility at the least cost. Estimated start work date is July 24, 1995 with 150 calendar days allowed for contract completion. A pre-bid conference has been scheduled for June 8, 1995 at 2:00 pm at the VA Medical Center, Education Conference Room, 6010 Amarillo Blvd. W., Amarillo, TX. The construction cost for the project is valued between $250,000 and $500,000. Solicitation packages will be available on or about May 23, 1995.
