A -- ANNOUNCEMENT OF TCRP RESEARCH ALLOCATIONS FOR 1995 POC Steve Andrle, 202/334-3224. The Transit Development Corporation's Board of Directors met in Washington, D.C., on February 27 and 28, 1995, and selected the following new projects for the Transit Cooperative Research Program in fiscal year 1995: A-12, Passenger Information and Services; A-13, Light Rail Service: Pedestrian and Vehicular Safety; B-8, Effective Methods of Marketing Transit Services to Business; B-9, Market Segmentation Strategies To Increase Transit Ridership; B-10, Role of Passenger Amenities and Transit Vehicle Characteristics in Building Ridership; B-11, Customer-Defined Transit Service Quality; C-7, Fuel Emissions During Propane, LNG, and CNG Refueling; C-8, New Technology and Alternative Fuels in Mass Transit; C-9, Guidelines for the Development of Paratransit Vehicle Specifications and Related Maintenance Equipment; D-6, Transit Track Design Manual (Light Rail); G-4, Standardization of Passenger Rail Rolling Stock and Determination of the Optimum Level of Component Standardization; H-7, Role of Adequate Operations Funding in Providing Expanded Transit Investments; H-8, Using Transit To Address the Economic and Social Costs of Immobility; H-9, Economic Development and Economic Impact Analysis of Transit Investments; H-10, The Costs of Sprawl - Revisited; H-11, Assessment of the Economic Impacts and Benefits of Rural Public Transportation. Project statements inviting proposals for research on most of these projects will be issued in mid 1995, and research will begin at the end of 1995. A preliminary announcement containing more details on these problems was distributed in April 1995 to all those on the TCRP project-statement mailing list.
