Flange-Mounted Low Energy Ion Source 1 (ea) -- The Contractor shall provide a flange-mounted low energy ion source suitable for use in a Government owned Ion Beam Assisted Deposition (IBAD) System. The Contractor shall provide all associated power supplies and accessories. The ion source shall be a 3 cm diameter RF plasma ion source mounted on a 6'' UHV knife-edge flange along with a plasma bridge neutralizer and utility feedthroughs. The ion source shall produce ion beams of both inert and reactive gases. The source shall contain a mounted plasma bridge neutralizer for beam neutralization. The source shall be able to produce ion beams with energies from 0 to 1000 eV and current densities from 0 to 5 mA/cm2. Power supplies, generators and control units for the source and neutralizer shall be included for mounting in an adjacent electronics cabinet, and the gas input to the source shall be regulated by an Ion Tech gas flow controller. The supplies shall be powered from normal 208 V 3-phase or single-phase line voltage. FOB Destination. It is the intent of the Government to award a contract on a sole source basis pursuant to FAR 6.302-1. Firms that recognize and can produce the required item described above are encouraged to identify themselves and give written notification to the Contracting Officer, and provide supporting evidence to the Contracting Officer within fifteen (15) calendar days after date of publication of this synopsis. The final determination by the Government not to open this requirement to competition based on any information provided, is solely within the discretion of the Government.
