Description
Notice of Intent to Sole Source National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) Energy Zone Exhibit and Energy Show. In accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures, the Department of Energy (DOE), NETL intends to award a purchase order on a sole source basis to Carnegie Science Center for the Energy Zone Exhibit and Energy Show within the Carnegie Science Centers Exploration Station exhibit for a base period of one-year plus up to four one-year option periods. The Carnegie Science Center is the premier science education institution in the Pittsburgh region and is uniquely aligned with NETLs mission to promote STEM education and energy literacy. The Carnegie Science Center focuses on real world applications of STEM in industry, research, and innovation, all mirroring the goals of the NETL Energy Zone exhibit. Additionally, the Carnegie Science Center draws over 500,000 visitors annually, including a diverse mix of school field trips, families, educators, and out of state visitors. No other museum in Pittsburgh provides the same scale or diversity of audience, particularly among K-12 students and future STEM professionals. The Carnegie Science Center is uniquely equipped to host and support immersive hands on, technology focused exhibits like the Energy Zone. The Carnegie Science Center has dedicated STEM galleries, interactive technology spaces, and trained science education staff who can support integrative the exhibit into broader programming such as SciTech Days, STEM Adventure Camps, and educator workshops. It is the Governments understanding that the Carnegie Science Center is the only suitable venue in the region capable of supporting, maintaining and promoting the NETL Energy Zone Exhibit and Energy Show. No known alternate locations exist which could satisfy the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for quote/proposal. Any interested party that believes it is capable of meeting the NETL requirement described herein may identify themselves and must provide evidence of their capability to fulfill the requirement by 3:30 PM ET on Monday, May 19, 2025. Responses must be submitted in writing to the Contract Specialist, Cynthia V. Madison, via email at Cynthia.Madison@netl.doe.gov, no later than the time and date noted above. Telephone responses and requests will not be received. A determination by the Government to compete this requirement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
