- Request for Quotes for Spillway Foundation Piezometer Repairs at Gavins Point Dam, SD.� The solicitation will close on or about 31 JULY 2020. This solicitation is 100% Set Aside for Small Businesses. ***IAW� 52.236-27 SITE VISIT (CONSTRUCTION) (FEB 1995) The site visit is scheduled for 10:00am (CDT) on Tuesday, 14 July 2020. Contractor must notify Melissa Schmitz by 2pm (CDT) on 13 July 2020 if attending the site visit.� Email: Melissa.K.Schmitz@usace.army.mil� or��Phone: 605.487.6015 This project consists of splice repairs to the fiber optic cables that were damaged and repairs associated and nearby damage to the concrete spillway slabs.� Automated vibrating wire piezometers were installed underneath the spillway slab at Gavins Point Dam in 2013 to evaluate foundation pressures. The saw cuts at the surface of the spillway slab. Due to deteriorating epoxy sealant in the saw cuts and a concrete spall in the spillway slab at a saw cut, four of the fiber optic cables were exposed to spillway flow and severed. This contract is to repair the four damaged fiber optic cables by fusion splicing new fiber optic cable from the piezometer bore holes in the spillway slab to junction boxes above the spillway. The epoxy sealant and the spall in the spillway slab will be repaired to protect the fiber optic cables.
