Description

The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport, RI (NUWCDIVNPT) requires the extension of the crane rail for Crane No. 1110 in the basement level of Building 1319 to extend over the truck dock. The existing sectional garage door has been replaced with a new roll-up door under a separate work scope / project. Changing the door types enables the extension of the crane rail toward the door and over the existing truck dock. NUWC Drawing No. 15-003A represents the intended work of extending the crane rail and modifying the hoist of crane 1110 at Building 1319. Work Items: 1. 1 Provide an extension to the existing T/C AMERICAN 3RL13-27 monorail system of Crane No. 1110. Crane rail beam extension shall include all necessary support hardware, splices, end stop, braces, and runway electrification. A portion of the existing crane rail will require modification to remove bottom flange with bolt holes and end stop. 1. 2 Provide two (2) new W8x15 support beams with associated shear connections angles/plates field welded to existing steel beams. Provide all necessary bolts, plates, angle stock, and weldments. Prepare and submit steel fabrication drawings for review and approval. Show intended components, connections, and materials. 1. 3 Repair disturbed spray-applied fireproofing on existing steel floor beams. 1. 4 Provide an extension to the runway conductor bar system along the new hoist monorail. Modify or replace conductor bar segments as required to provide a fully operable crane. 1. 5 Modify the hoist by replacing the hoist chain with a longer chain that can extend to the lower truck dock level “ approximately 4 ft of chain extension. Provide necessary documentation and certification of the new chain for the Navy crane alteration request (CAR). 1. 6 Modify the hoist pendant control to be able to extend an additional 4 ft to the lower truck dock level. Pendant shall be adjustable to suit the two different floor elevations. 1. 7 Provide engineering calculations of the new crane rail to support the Navy Crane Center CAR process. Design crane rail extension in accordance with ANSI MH 27.1 “ Specifications for Patented Track Underhung Cranes and Monorail Systems. 1. 8 Test and certify hoist and crane rail per Navy Crane Center requirements. Prepare and submit the NCC CAR for record.
