Description
SCOPE OF WORK: The contractor shall provide all material, labor, equipment and supervision required to accomplish the following: GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Contractor shall clear by mowing, cutting or grinding all undergrowth, trees, brush, and vegetation to provide clear line of sight. Work will be conducted in a manner not to result in rutting or disturbance of root matt in surrounding wetlands, marshes and/or riparian buffers. Finished product will be conducted to the extent that future maintenance may be conducted by tractor and bush hog excluding wetland and marsh areas. All vegetation exceeding a height of 6ft with-in wetlands, marshes and or riparian buffers that are inaccessible by machinery on wood matt will have to be cut by hand or handheld tools (chainsaw, bladed weed eater, bush ax etc.). Project consists of two (2) separate locations (maps included). All measurements furnished in this scope of work are approximate and are for references only. Actual precise measurements shall be field verified by the contractor. 1. North approach: Between Agan St, Curtis St 2. Both sides of Flounder Rd. South to AS804 (Total Approximately 89.5 acres) DETAILED REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS: 1. Vegetation in these areas shall be cut to a level (between 8 and 12 ) allowing for future maintenance to be accomplished with a tractor mower/bush hog. Hand trim vegetation around fences, trees, poles, and any permanent structures located within the cleared areas. 2. For this Scope of Work, work boundaries will be determined by ground conditions (i.e. too wet or excessive disturbance to the root matt. 3. All live and dead trees, logs, limbs or branches resting on the ground at the shoulder or in the drainage ditch shall be placed at least 10 feet into the tree line to ensure items are either mowed or ground. Vegetation that is mulched shall be discarded in a manner ensuring not to leave it in piles or discard into drainage ditches. Any vegetation removed from the site shall be removed in accordance with Special Instructions. 4. Before beginning clearing or cutting operations, the contractor shall block off with a physical barrier, such as extended saw horses or caution tape, all entry points to the work area to keep personnel from being exposed to the clearing and cleaning operations and/or flying debris. Signs shall be posted at the barriers warning personnel the area is closed for maintenance. While working on gravel areas, the contractor shall provide personnel to direct traffic around the work area. The contractor shall provide traffic control (i.e. cones, flagman, signs, etc.) sufficient to prevent injury to personnel, damage to property, and allow for safe flow of traffic. Notify the Base Provost Marshall s Office (PMO), 451-3004/3005, prior to detouring or re-routing traffic. 5. The contractor shall restore (repair to original condition) grounds disturbed on the roadway right-a-ways and trails by filling with clean topsoil, raking, and reseeding with Coastal Lawn Mix applied at a rate of 50 pounds/acre. Disturbed areas include but are not limited to ruts, holes, gouges, scrapes, scratches and tire tracks. 6. Contractor shall remove all trash that is laying within areas where work is being performed on a daily basis. The contractor shall clear all dirt, pine straw, and debris over the length of the entire project area that will interfere with future mowing operations. No equipment or material shall be stored on the work site without specific permission from the project manager or the performance assessment representative (PAR). The contractor shall ensure that all areas and systems contiguous to the work site remain undisturbed, or are returned to its original condition and operation as soon as practical. 7. SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: Vegetation that cannot be mulched shall be weighed at the Base Sanitary Landfill located on Piney Green Road and delivered to the Recycling Center on Piney Green Road (across from the Landfill). Hours of operation: 0730 AM-1530 PM, Monday through Friday, except holidays.
