- Each meal shall be shelf-stable with a minimum shelf-life of 10 months at 70 degrees F, minimum of 800 kcal per meal/maximum 1460 kcal per meal, maximum 13g of saturated fat, maximum 2g of trans fat, total fat range between 10%-35% of meal, maximum 1000 g of sodium, protein range between 10%-25% of meal, and no more than 60% of meal comprised of carbohydrates. Meals should not include a fluid drink, as bottled water will be supplied and due to cube/weight and non-nutritive value concerns. Powdered beverage packets may be included. All other foods must be ready-to-eat and shelf stable. Meals should be packed single, double or quad and marked as such.
